Michael Ham
MARKET PRESIDENT
In his role as the Market President, Michael oversees day-to-day operations for Shields’ partners in New York, the Midwest, and the West. He is responsible for driving the highest level of clinical care and outcomes, operational excellence, and growth initiatives for our health system partners. Additionally, Michael leads all Shared Services for Shields nationally. In Michael’s previous role as SVP of New York, he oversaw rapid growth across some of the nation’s most prestigious academic medical centers.
Prior to joining Shields, Michael led one of the nation’s largest Independent Physician Associations (IPAs) for Optum / DaVita Medical Group. In this role, he led a large, high-performing operations team responsible for delivering value-based clinical outcomes, financial performance (risk adjustment/utilization management), and growth (partnerships and M&A) covering more than 75,000 full-risk (i.e., capitated) patients. Before that time, Michael spent three years in investment banking with JPMorgan and Wells Fargo.
Michael holds a B.S. in Finance with Honors from Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University.
