Michael Ham
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
In his role as Chief Operating Officer, Michael leads operations for Shields nationally. He is responsible for driving the highest level of patient care, operational excellence, growth acceleration, and margin enhancement for Shields’ 80+ health system partners. Additionally, Michael leads Shared Services for Shields — a national division supporting Shields partners to engage, support, and retain patients throughout their specialty pharmacy journey. In Michael’s previous role as Market President, he led operations in the New York, Midwest, and West regions. Prior to that, Michael served as SVP of New York, where he oversaw rapid growth, impressive clinical and financial performance, and expansion of the Shields’ care model to tens of thousands of deserving patients at some of the nation’s most prestigious academic medical centers.
Prior to joining Shields, Michael led one of the nation’s largest Independent Physician Associations (IPAs) for Optum / DaVita Medical Group. In this role, he led a large, high-performing operations team responsible for delivering value-based clinical outcomes, financial performance (risk adjustment/utilization management), and growth (partnerships and M&A) covering more than 75,000 full-risk (i.e., capitated) patients. Before that time, Michael spent three years in investment banking with JPMorgan and Wells Fargo.
Michael holds a B.S. in Finance with Honors from Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University.
