Excelera’s proprietary data platform has allowed UnityPoint at Home to gain access to five limited-distribution drugs through the Excelera network. The specialty pharmacy program is now dual-accredited and executing on their growth plan across the UnityPoint Health System.

With its ambulatory infusion centers at capacity and payers pressing for alternate sites of care, OHSU engaged with Excelera Home Infusion Solutions to help launch a home infusion pharmacy. Patients and providers are very satisfied, and growth has been robust.

To support the capital expenditure request for building a specialty pharmacy, Excelera was engaged to develop a pro forma based on Loma Linda-specific data. Subsequently, Excelera provided expertise in building out the space and successfully implementing the specialty pharmacy program.

Health systems are reassessing their real estate portfolios as they prepare for a post-COVID-19 environment that will likely feature more home-based care and remote working arrangements.

A staffing model developed in conjunction with Excelera led to a more fully integrated standard of care for specialty patients. Prior authorization workflow improvements eased the administrative burden on providers, and the number of prescriptions filled internally grew.

Medication adherence and customer service improved after the new in-house entity, Proprium Pharmacy, was established. The engagement included advisory, project management and SME assistance for the specialty pharmacy and home delivery design, build-out and implementation, including related pharmacy support operations.

Excelera helped Regional Health (now Monument Health) develop data capabilities required to gain access to certain limited-distribution breast, kidney and lung cancer drugs from Pfizer. Integrated specialty pharmacy care and greater convenience benefit the health system’s oncology patients.

This engagement began with the development of a specialty pharmacy business model and pro forma to demonstrate viability. Planning and support for build-out, drug access, clinical therapy management, a call center and other functions followed, resulting in a successful launch.

With an extensive engagement that included a focus on best practice clinical therapy management programs, data collection and aggregation, and URAC accreditation, Excelera helped Avera Health build a thriving business to compete successfully with large, national specialty pharmacies.

An ambitious timeline prompted Banner Health’s engagement with Excelera. Specialty pharmacy and home delivery/central fill capabilities were rapidly developed and implemented. Goals regarding access to LDD and payer contracts, data aggregation and reporting, and benchmarking were also met.
